My Fifteenth Frolic for 2017 ...

For my fifteenth frolic for the year, I stitched on my travel piece - The Nutcracker Sampler (as we were visiting DS2 in Sydney for four days).

Here is what I managed to get done over that time:

This sampler is really taking shape now - I am loving it!

My Fourteenth Frolic for 2017....

For my latest FF, I picked up another old UFO (not as old as last week's, I don't think, but still way past time it was stitched on again!)

This is called Alphabet Sampler and is from an old cross stitch magazine (I only seem to have my photocopied pages, but I think it is an old Jill Oxton mag).

When I picked it up, I only had the outer border to do.

By the end of Friday evening, I was up to here.

So, as we had the long Easter weekend, I determined to finish it before I went back to work this morning.  Let's see how I went....

That heart in the mouth moment when you hope like mad that the border matches up!

Phew! It did!

And, here we go.... Success!  All finished!

I am just in love with it!  I love the soft, antique look of it and I can't wait to get it to the framers.

My Thirteenth Frolic for 2017...

This week I picked up a very old UFO, which I had found abandoned in a large wicker storage basket crammed under the stairs!

It is Windswept Santa from The Gold Collection by Dimensions.  It is a kit and it is being stitched on Aida, which I have not stitched on for many years.

This is where I was up to, when it was abandoned.

I managed to fill in a bit of the red on his cloak.  It is rather fiddly, as there are a lot of blended threads and half stitches, which I am not sure that I like that much.  So, it may be a while before this one is picked up again. We'll see!

How's that?

A Friday Frolicking post on a Friday..how's that?

I know I don't post much here. It's because I usually like to post if I have significant progress on my WIPs/ a finish or if I have something to show which I haven't shown on my main blog.

So what did I do this morning...I FFOed a finish.

All hand sewn.. took me around 3+ hrs.I'm very happy with how this has turned out. I added simple white ric rac lace for the first time..certainly will be doing that more in future.

Noni's April Post #1

Ok... so where did the rest of February and all of March go?  I had such great plans to most on the FF blog every weekend... but I blinked and missed a month or so of weekends!  Never mind another Friday is just around the corner!

So I thought I would give you a little bit of an update on my Friday night stitching project... Faces of Joan Elliott SAL

The last time you saw this project was back in January and I was working on the Holly Fairy

I haven't done any more on her recently, instead I moved on and started the Unicorn square.

And that is as far as I have gotten with this one....

Most Friday nights I have been working on various other pieces which I haven't always taken a photo of... so I will just leave this post here for now and try and come back on the weekend with an update on this project!

Til next time,  happy stitching and may the frog not come for a visit at your house! :o)

My Twelfth Frolic for 2017....

Well, I didn't quite manage to post when I said that I would last post, however, I am, at least posting before the next Friday - lol!

For my twelfth frolic, I thought that I should get a wriggle on with my The Frosted Pumpkin's Twelve Days of Christmas.  I am happy to say that I managed to finish Day Three - Three French Hens.

Only two more days until my Thirteenth Frolic, I wonder what will come out of the WIP/UFO pile next?

Barbara from The Flashing Scissors 2017 #3

Hello Frolickers!

A couple of Fridays ago I was searching through my folders of cross stitch stuff, and rediscovered this teeny tiny pattern ....

Honey Bee Cross Stitching from Cross Stitcher 1998
"Honey Bee"
..... a freebie from Cross Stitcher, in 1998!

Back in '98 I had stitched the lower row only, and decided it was too fiddly as it is 16 hpi .... I usually stitch on 14 hpi.

Anyway, that was w-a-a-a-y before I discovered our wonderful online cross stitching community, and, as so many of my cross stitch friends stitch on very high count fabrics I thought I ought to persevere with this particular teeny tiny16 count! It could also count towards Kerry's Theme-Tas-Stitch 2017 - "March Madness"! (If you haven't read about "March Madness" you can find out more in my post HERE)

While we were out travelling on the train on Friday I added the next couple of rows, but most of the hive was stitched on Saturday, at snatched minutes during the day and evening!

Honey Bee and Stitch by Stitch
Bee Happy and my latest new start - "Stitch by Stitch"
Oh yes, last week ..... as it was still March, just!! .... I was also tempted to start another project, but this had to be stitched at home as it was rather complicated sorting all the threads .... and this was again due to Kerry's March Madness ..... (another possible reason for starting this one could well be the fact there are  scissors in the picture .... and my blog name is ????? "The Flashing Scissors" !!!)

Stitch by Stitch
"Stitch By Stitch"
and it could also count as part of "Gifted Gorgeousness" as it was part of the Giveaway I received from Jacquie Morris last year!

Today I've picked up an old project for April's Theme-Tas-Stitch ("stitch on something water related") and I intend to carry on with this for next Friday's Frolick, so hopefully I'll have photos to share again next week.

Happy Stitching everyone!!!

Hugs,

My Eleventh Frolic for 2017...

Oh dear, I am over a week late with my Eleventh Frolic and two days late for my Twelfth!  Oh well, you will get two post today! lol!

So, here goes on my Eleventh Frolic.....  Lizzie Kate's A Very Scary SAL, which I last posted about sometime in 2012!

Here is where I was up to.....

... and just a little bit of progress this time around.  I actually didn't get as much stitched as I would have liked as all of the specialty threads for this design seem to have migrated (or runaway from neglect) to other projects, so I have re-ordered them from my LNS, Lazy Daisy.

I will be quite excited to get them and get back into stitching on this design as I have nearly finished Part Two and there is only one more part after that.

hugs, Kaye

P.S. My Twelfth Frolic will be posted very soon, so please come back for a squiz!
