Potions Progress

Hi, again :) It's been a while since I posted on my Friday Frolicking on my Potions, Brews, and Spells pattern. I wanted to have a few Friday's worth of stitching before I posted about it again. So here is my progress since the last time :)

I ended up with my initials and date after last week's frolicking. There is a few more cross stitch bits below this section, but a majority of it is backstitching, specialty stitches, and cross stitching over one. After I get the regular cross stitching done in this section, I plan on moving back up and leaving the bottom section until last.

I was able to get a close up photograph of the thread color. Isn't it pretty? I love the variegated purples. It has been a while since I've worked with colored silks and I don't think I've ever worked with a variegated one before. I love how it stitches up.

Maybe some day I'll be able to get a photograph of the fabric that shows its true color. My cell phone camera does whatever it wants with this fabric depending on the time of day and lighting......ugh!

Until next time ^____^

My Tenth Frolic for 2017....

..... ooops, late again!  And here it is Frolic day again Downunder but I am still frolicking about last week - lol!

So, let's get on with it!

I was a bit of a naughty girl, as, instead of picking up a WIP or UFO, you guessed it!  I started something new!!!!!!

Nutcracker Sampler....

A gorgeous nutcracker Christmas design, kindly gifted to me by the delightful Melinda from Family Business.

It is a really sweet design from an old magazine and features five different nutcrackers standing to attention all in a row, with an alphabet above and surrounded by a candy cane and heart border - just adorable - all in time-honoured Christmas colours.

Thank you so much, dear Melinda.

So, a quick post, as I promised, and now I am off to be a good girl and find a languishing WIP/UFO to work on today.

hugs, Kaye

My ninth Frolic for 2017

Sorry, a bit late with this one but it was a super busy time for me last week, so I am a bit behind with my posting (that is what happens when you go back to work three days a week - boy, does it eat into your stitching and blogging time - lol!)

Anyway, here is my ninth Friday Frolic for 2017....

Noel Blanc....

Noel Blanc
Designer: K
Designer: A  Mon Ami Pierre
Fabric: 28 ct Willow (I think that is what it is called.)
Floss: Suggested DMC threads

The true colour of the fabric is closer in the second pic. I must say it looks much prettier in real life

The last time I stitched on this piece was in August 2015!

Stay tuned for my Tenth Frolic for 2017 post coming up very soon!

hugs,

Kaye

The result of several weekends

When I pull out a project for the Friday Frolics I can't put it down just after one day of stitching, so for me it's always a weekend project. A while ago I pulled out an older WIP and worked on it for several weekends. It's Composition d'automne by Perrette Samouiloff.

This where I stopped stitching back in 2016

... and this is what I added

... and this is what the whole project looks like now.

Happy stitching,
Brigitte

My Eighth Frolic for 2017...

....  again involved a little bit of creative timing because, as seems to be the case so often and was indeed again this Friday, I was quite busy.  A very good excuse this time - I spent ALL day helping my sister move house!  So, once more I fudged a little and started my FF on Thursday and then snatched a little bit of time on Friday evening once I had settled myself in my comfy stitching chair with a heat pack for my back (sore from all that bending and lifting and unpacking boxes) and a cat to cuddle.

Firstly, I worked on finishing this sweet Spring Celebrations design by The Primitive Hare.  It is a freebie which you can find here.

I found a scrap of overdyed fabbie and just managed to squeeze the design on it but I changed all of the colours to hopefully create a very sweet, very pastel, springlike feel.

Once I had finished this piece, I was too tired to go rootling around in my Girl's Nest for an old WIP, so I settled for a more recent one, one that I am finding very soothing to stitch.

Design: Do more of what makes you happy
Designer: Abbey Rose Designs
Fabric: 32ct Grey-spotted
Floss: Mixture of suggested and own choice over-dyed threads

These pics below show you where I got up to last time I posted about this piece in January - as you can see, I am close to finishing.

Anyway, enough "rabbiting" on from me for now - off to do some laundry and hopefully some sewing in my Girl's Nest.

hugs,

Kaye
