Long Weekend Friday Frolics!

Hello!  We have just had a wonderful warm, sunny 3 day weekend and I managed to get some stitching in which is an added bonus!

I was supposed to take a photo on Friday night before I started stitching, and another one after my Friday night effort, so that I could do this post... but I forgot.... so today's belated post is just to show off where my SAL piece is at after the last week or so of stitching...

"Faces of Joan Elliott Mystery SAL" (Facebook SAL Group)
Designer: Joan Elliott
Friday night's effort (from memory) was all about the flower that the Fairy is holding.

I have been thinking that I might try and keep this piece out and work on it again next Friday night and then it might eventually get finished!!

See you next week! Til then happy stitching
Hugs, Noni xx

Carmie's Update...

Hi everyone,

Carmie has  again asked me to post a progress pic on her behalf as she is still in the process of entering the exciting new world of owning a tablet and hopes to be able to post pics herself soon.

This is the latest news on her tablet purchasing:

"Sun [day] I went to teach my grand daughter Jazmin how to make apple pies. She's the one helping me with the tablet. She has it narrowed down for me I should be picking one up next week-end if nothing comes up."

That is great news, Carmie.  Here is her previous progress pic...

"Angel of Grace is a 1991 chart by Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum for Lavender & Lace. I have several of her charts. Have 2 I'm working on."

Here is a pic of what she will look like finished:

... and here is Carmie's update:

Wonderful progress, Carmie and thanks to Jazmin for helping you with the photos.

hugs, Kaye

Again not on Friday ... EDITED

Hello friends,

Friday seems to be a bad day for stitching lately. Instead I had my Friday stiching on Saturday. I pulled out one of my oldest WIPs, literally a UFO, as the last time I worked on it was in April 2006. Sigh ... I finished stitching the second block back then and since then it was in my UFO drawer - until last Saturday.

I started block #3.
Edit: Houses of Hawk Run Hollow by Carriage House Samplings

I am motivated again and will continue next Friday/Saturday/weekend :)

Joining in the fun!

Hi everyone :)

My name is Lisa and I'm just getting back into stitching after a long break. I'm so glad I've been able to join this group as one of the things I loved about stitching was the community and I'm looking to find that community again!

So Friday Frolics for me was a bit weird this week as there was a bit of drama going on in my house that night (which is so unusual) so I quit early.

The WIP I have been working on is Persephone by Mirabilia. I'm not sure how long I will stick to one WIP as I used to work on several at a time but now, after such a long break, I am loving working on just one thing and enjoying the process.

Before (and not ironed)

After (and ironed!)
Persephone is stitched using the called for DMC and Caron Waterlily silk threads. I've chosen to stitch her on Picture this Plus 32 count linen in the Rosewood colour. I left the qsnap on for months and I can see where the fabric has faded I'm hoping once the design has been finished it will not be as noticeable.

Happy stitching, Lisa

Historical Frolicking

Hi everyone

What a fun SAL! I haven't posted here for a couple of weeks, because I started frolicking Friday before last and didn't stop until tonight!

I pulled this lovely kit from my WIP pile and here's where I'm up to after a week or do stitching it.

History Timeline by Bothy Threads

I hadn't stitched on this one for at least a year. This is the top row complete. Five historical period stitched, fifteen to go!

Hope you've all had fun frolicking recently.

Last Friday Frolic is a FINISH!

Well, I kept stitching at odd minutes over the weekend (we had family to stay, so it was pretty busy) and I managed to finish my Chimney Disaster!

This is where he was on Saturday morning:

... and now... ta da!  Santa is all stuck down that chimney!

Such a fun design!

Please check out the other posts to see what my fellow frolickers have been up to,

My tree is stitched

I have done my little tree. For me it is small. About 2" square. I love it though.
Now I just need to make it into something. Maybe a needle case.. I have a pattern in mind...

My first Friday Frolics!

Hello fellow FF:ers!

I'm so pleased to be able to join your gang:) And I'm equally pleased that Kaye came up with yet another brilliant SAL where we all get a chance to hang out and share our love for working with a needle and thread:))

So this is my first Friday Frolics and I had a few different projects I wanted to work on today.
First up is my ornament for the Christmas Ornie SAL (yet another one of Kaye's brilliant SALs!). This is where I was at when I started stitching it today...

...and a bit later it was all done!

I also stitched on an Crocus ABC and today it was the letter A that made an appearence:

I also wanted to start on my Xmas Iphone cover:) It's supposed to be a Xmas tree, but at the moment it is a bit loopsided...I'm thinking that Mr frog has made an appearance!

I'm going to have to deal with him another day though, as my Friday Frolics were coming to an end:)

I want to end this post with showing you all who joined me here at home for my first Frolics:

We all hope to be back with more frolics next Friday!

Friday Frolics on a Thursday....

As TraderVic and I were going to be out on Friday night attending the "David Bowie is" at ACMI (the Australian Centre for the Moving Image) - which, while lots of people have been raving about, I was, in fact, rather disappointed by it - although I did love, love, love all of his costumes - I decided to shift my Friday Frolics to Thursday night.

I randomly picked up one of my "Bah Humbug" designs which I had abandoned after last Christmas.

Before I started, my WIP looked like this:

... and this morning it looks like this....

"Chimney Disaster" by Sue Hillis Designs

I am hoping to finish it today!  That will be so cool!

I wonder how everyone else's Friday Frolics went this week?

Have a great weekend everyone,

lots of hugs,

Carmie's update....UPDATED!

Hi everyone, Carmie has asked me to post a progress pic on her behalf as she is in the process of entering the exciting new world of owning a tablet and hopes to be able to post pics herself soon.

This is Angel  of Grace, not sure of the designer, though.

Great start, Carmie,

hugs, Kaye

Update:  Carmie has added the following information:

"Angel of Grace is a 1991 chart by Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum for Lavender & Lace. I have several of her charts. Have 2 I'm working on."

Here is a pic of what she will look like finished:

No Friday but Sunday Frolics

Hello friends,

I was busy with other things on Friday and Saturday, so I declared Sunday my Frolics day, lol. When I went through my WIP box I saw Polly Carbonari's Winter Wonderland and I knew that this would be the one. I had left it here in December 2014

and yesterday I added the skating girl to the left of the house and started the lady underneath her.

As it's such a lot of fun I will certainly continue stitching on this WIP for a day or two. Now I'll go and see what you all stitched on over the weekend.

Halloween Revelry

Hope you're having a great Sunday (or Monday)! Here's what I frolicked with on Friday..

Halloween Revelry by the Primitive Needle. I may make this my official Frolic project.

ABC Christmas...

... for this Friday Frolic, I picked up a WIP from earlier in the year, called ABC Christmas by Lizzie Kate.

This is what it looked like when I picked it up early Friday evening...

By the end of the evening I had finished the word "Poinsettia" and started on the "S" for "Snowman"....

I then worked on it intermittently over the weekend (interspersed with other SAL stitching) and I finished quite a bit more.

Psst!  Do you want to know a secret?  Of course you do!  See the three "snowflakes" under the snowman?  Well, that are not meant to be there at all!  Just above the "W" there was a tiny reddish-brown mark (possibly blood from a pricked finger) which I could not remove (as the floss is overdyed I didn't want to try washing the piece), so I came up with the bright idea (well, I hope it is a bright idea) of adding three snowflakes like the one at the end of the word.  What do you think?  Does it work okay?  I am pretty happy with my solution.

This was a great FF piece to work on this weekend and I can see that others have had fun on their WIPs, too.

Have a great week, everyone,

hugs,

Serendipitous Jo's First Friday Frolic

And it's a spooky one, well, what did you expect from me?

I started this design in August for the Black Cats theme on the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL Blog.  The plan was to finish it sometime this year.  So what better project to choose for this Blog?

Here is where I left it in August:

And here is today's photo:
Just Nan - Ghoulies and Ghosties
stitched on 28count tan evenweave

These are quite quick designs to stitch up, you are looking at an afternoon's work there.  I would have carried on frolicing over the whole weekend but it's IHSW which is when I work on Elizabeth Shephard by Scarlet Letter.  So just the one day frolic this week.

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you have been stitching on.

My Friday night

I was very lucky on Friday night to be staying with a blogging friend.
One who won't be photographed and can't be named.... Haha.
More about her on my next post though..... Aaaaggggghhh the suspense......
We did spend some time sewing and stitching together though.
After lunch at a lovely cafe, a tour of the area, visiting 3 patchwork shops, spending some money and then back for a beautiful meal and a lovely evening, here is the sewing photo.

I am doing a little stitchery that was started a while ago..
I need a gift for Xmas so I thought I should get it out and do some more on it...
I am still thinking about what to make it in to.. I do have an idea though but it will need to be kept a secret for a while....

Friday's Feelin' Festive!!

Here I am for my very first Friday Frolics post.... thanks Kaye for hosting such a great blog and coming up with great idea :o)

Last night I stitched on Lizzie Kate's "Feelin' Festive".  This is a project that I started back in January 2015 as part of my Crazy January stitching for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2015 (DUCJC2015).  I am now trying to get this finished as my October entry for the Christmas Ornie SAL.  I am starting to get quite good at this multi-tasking stitching!!

Here he is - Lizzie Kate's "Feelin' Festive".

Last night I managed to stitch some more of the green word "feelin" before bed.  Hopefully by the end of the week it will be finished!

See you all again next week....  Til then happy stitching
hugs, Noni

I Got There!

Well I  got the binding on and stitched down and its all done...

Yay!

Thanks to Kaye for the inspiration to get stitching.

First Friday project

Hello friends,

I know I'm late but still wanted to post my first Friday Frolics post before the next Friday is here. This Friday thing was very tempting for me as I love the idea to pull out an old WIP and stitch on it over the weekend.

Last Friday I pulled out a small project that I had started back in 2013 for a Crazy Challenge. I left it here

and since Sunday morning it is finished

Laura's Embroideries by Marie Suarez

I still have to choose a nice button that will be placed next to the N. Fortunately I have some in my stash but don't know yet which one to take.

I hope that my next Friday piece will be just as much fun to stitch.

Happy Stitching,
Brigitte

Frolicking fun!

Hi everyone

What a fun blog!  For our first Frolicking Friday (and Kaye's second?!) I pulled out an old WIP that was my first Crazy January Challenge start in 2014.  Here's how it looked when I last photographed it...

I had stitched a little on it since then, but here is how it looks after a marathon stitching session last night!

Riverdrift House Family Sampler

I really love this design but I put it aside as it's on 14 count aida which is very stiff.  Looking at the photo above now though makes me realise how much I like it and want to finish it!

I know we're only supposed to frolic on Fridays but I would really like to continue with this one over the weekend!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone else worked on.

Thanks Kaye for being a super SAL host.

A very old Blackbird!

Right day and right place.......!  Not a lot done but decided to haul out and to blow the dust off a very old Blackbird piece.......I was trying to see when I last stitched on it......I know there's a photograph taken in among boxes when the movers were packing us up in January 2011 to move the furniture back to England.....so, time to work on it again, do you think?

I chose this one also as to be honest, I am a wee bit bored with it......it's lovely design but should have been finished long since!

So two not terribly good photographs....

Before

After
Really all I have done is one flower on the right and carried on joining up the "square" and God willing, it will meet!  But it's a start!  I am a bit undecided whether to keep going over the weekend.  I think I will and post another progress picture on Sunday evening.

Night night, a very early start this morning, I'm shattered.......

Fri night

Yeah, it's Fri night and I'm ready to frolic with Kaye! Have my UFO ready to do some stitching. haven't stitched on Angel of Grace for a long time. Have a couple hrs to work on it before I head back up to watch my little grand daughter, Lennon. She thought  she could work on  my Americana SAL yesterday. Thank goodness she only cut the floss. Had to keep a very close eye on my scissors. I think she could find them no matter where I put them, LOL! She'll be 2 Oct 3 so too young for any of it!

Welcome to Kitten Stitching and the Friday Frolics....

Hello Fellow Friday Frolickers,

I hope that you have fun with this new SAL blog.  This is a laid back, easy peasy SAL - basically any Friday you like, you go to your stash and pick out a WIP or UFO at random to stitch on that evening (or over the weekend, if you please) and then post about it whenever you like.  If you are busy one Friday night, no harm, no foul - you just do not need to worry about it - we will always be here on another Friday night for you.

You can pair this up with anything else you are doing, such as  Friday Night Stitch In or Friday Night with Friends, if you like or not at all!  It is up to you!

Please feel free to add our blog badge to your blog, if you wish and please have lots of FUN!

hugs,  Kaye
